SERIES OVERVIEW

Waiting can be hard, especially when you are waiting for something good. For hundreds of years, God’s people waited for Jesus to come. He is the One who God promised, the One coming to make all things right. He is the good and perfect King who will rule forever. There is no one like Him, and His arrival signaled hope and salvation for all who felt the weight of sin and brokenness upon this world. As the everlasting King and Prince of Peace, He is worthy of all worship. In this series, God invites us to meet and worship our true King.

WORD OF WONDER

A child will be born to us. A son will be given to us. He will rule over us. And he will be called Wonderful Advisor and Mighty God. He will also be called Father Who Lives Forever and Prince Who Brings Peace.

FAMILY WONDER QUESTIONS

1. What do people do to prepare for a new baby to join their family? How do you think John prepared the way for Jesus?

2. How did Mary respond to the angel’s message? Share about some exciting news you’ve received.

3. What gift would you bring if you got to visit Jesus like the magi did? How can you worship Jesus this week?

FAMILY SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

• Draw a Dream: In Daniel 7, God spoke to Isaiah through a dream. Give everyone a sheet of paper and coloring utensils. Read Daniel 7 and then have everyone draw a picture of how you envision Daniel’s dream. Talk about what God shared with Daniel in his dream. Then share ways God has spoken to you.

• Welcome Jesus: Wrap an empty gift box and place it at your Christmas tree (or another special place). Pray together, thanking God for the gift of Jesus and offer your prayers and worship to God as your gift to Him.

FAMILY ACTIVITY

A breath prayer is a word or phrase to repeat in a single breath with one part on the inhale and the other part on the exhale.

Breath prayers help us focus on God and His presence with us. Try this together as a
