SERIES OVERVIEW

Who is Jesus? He is the exact likeness of God—the physical representation of God on earth. As a child and later as an adult, Jesus shows us what God is like. This series will help us understand Jesus and who He is. He is the Messiah, and God the Father speaks words of affirmation at His baptism.

When Jesus is led into the wilderness and His humanity is put on display, He is tempted and does not sin. Through His first miracle, we see Jesus reveal to His followers that He is amazing. The more we know Him, the more we know God, and the more we are drawn to Him.

WORD OF WONDER

The Son is the exact likeness of God, who can’t be seen. The Son is first, and he is over all creation.

FAMILY WONDER QUESTIONS

1. In what ways are you like other members of our family?

2. Jesus shows us what God is like. What can we do to show people what
Jesus is like?

3. What is something amazing God has done in our family?

FAMILY SPIRITUAL PRACTICES

  • God Is ___ : Jesus shows us what God is like! Flip through the pages
of a picture Bible that show Jesus and His ministry. Make a list of
words that describe Jesus. Then above the list, write “God is …” Take
turns reading the list back to God as a prayer of praise!

  • Hiding God’s Word: When tempted by Satan in the desert, Jesus
responded by speaking Scripture. As a family, memorize a favorite
Bible verse or short passage. (Not sure where to start? Try Psalm 23.)
Write the Scripture on note cards and put them where your family
gathers, like on the kitchen table and taped to the car’s dash. When
you see it, say it! In the words of the Psalmist: “I have hidden your
word in my heart so that I won’t sin against you” (Psalm 119:11).

FAMILY ACTIVITY

A breath prayer is a word or phrase to repeat in a single breath with one part on the inhale and the other part on the exhale.

Breath prayers help us focus on God and His presence with us. Try this together as a family.

Inhale: Jesus, is … Exhale: AMAZING in every way.
